Bay Area EPAT or Shockwave Therapy

Extracorporeal Pulse Activation Technology (EPAT), also known as Shockwave is an advanced non-invasive procedure that uses acoustic pressure waves for healing musculoskeletal pain. EPAT harnesses the body’s own potential to help injured tissue in areas that have poor blood flow, tissue damage, overuse, or weakness.

Shockwave Therapy is best for acute or chronic musculoskeletal pain

EPAT can help if you suffer from these conditions:

  • Foot, ankle and heel pain:  Achilles tendon, Plantar Fascia

    EPAT at Avid Sports Medicine

We use EPAT/Shockwave as part of your customized Avid recovery program.  It is a powerful tool to help you overcome pain, focus on therapeutic movements and get back to the activities you love. Sessions are every 1-2 weeks for a minimum of 3-5 weeks and last about 10 minutes.

As a professional runner, I’d been suffering from achilles tendinitis that was keeping me from competing.. I tried so many things, but couldn’t get the pain under control. A friend recommended EPAT and it was amazing!  The team at Avid used the EPAT and a focused rehabilitation program to get me back to full training.

I’ve been training with kettlebells for years, but then I developed pain in my wrist that made lifting very painful.  I tried to muscle through but eventually had to stop when even daily activities became unbearable.  EPAT got the pain under control so I could work again, play with my son, and gradually get back to lifting.
